General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation, Musa Amadu has warned Dream Team VI coach Samson Siasia, on the invitation of overseas based players, insisting that it will be very difficult to get the players released for their programs.
Amadu, who had earlier told SL10.ng that European clubs are not obliged to release their players to the Dream Team for competitions outside the FIFA free window, also wants the Beijing 2008 olympics silver winning coach to focus more on the home based players and take a cue from his predecessor, Austin Eguavoen.
“Like I have told you before, the European clubs are not obliged to release their players for any competition outside the FIFA window and I’m sure the coach (Siasia) understands that too. We at the NFF will work hard to ensure we get as many of them as possible, but he must also learn from the mistakes of Austin Eguavoen the last time.
“He depended too much on the overseas based players and when they didn’t show up, it became a problem because the competition didn’t fall into any of the FIFA free windows. But I’m happy he has started working with the home based lads and we will do everything possible to provide all the support he needs,” Amadu added.
