Amalaha: Gold Medal Is reward For Hardwork

–Team Nigeria gold medal winner reveals secret of success

Nigeria’s first gold medallist at the on-going 20th Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Joy Amalaha has revealed the secret behind are record breaking feat.

16-year-old Amalaha on Saturday, lifted a total of 196kg in the 53kg weight category to land Nigeria’s gold medal at the games.

“Before I came to the Commonwealth Games I had prepared really hard and I always rely on my five Ps which is Proper Preparation and Prevent Poor Performance. I had to work hard to prevent a poor performance and I am glad I worked for the gold and the record.”

She stated that her focus now is the Olympic Games taking place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2016.

“The next thing for me is to be determined and dedicated and work hard towards the Olympic coming up in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro.”

It would be recalled that on Friday, in weightlifting Nkechi Opara won Nigeria’s first medal when she won bronze in the women’s clean and jerk 48kg.
