Ameobi Scores First Cardiff Goal; Aluko, Akpom Falter

Sammy Ameobi came off the substitutes’ bench for Cardiff to score his first Championship goal of the season in their 2-0 home win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Nigerian forward scored six minutes after replacing Kenwyne Jones in the 57th minute.

Sone Aluko got rewarded for his brilliant strike in mid-week as he was handed his first start of the Championship season in Hull City’s 2- 1 loss away at Charlton Athletic.

He played the whole game while Chuba Akpom made way for Abel Hernandez who grabbed the Tigers’ consolation goal.

Hope Akpan could not help Blackburn as they suffered another loss away to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday. It was his second game for the club since arriving this summer.

In Scotland, Efe Ambrose got into the referee’s book in the 45th minute in his third game of the season for Celtic who defeated Dundee United 3-1 on Saturday.

At the Tynecastle Stadium in Edinburgh, Juwon Oshaniwa made his fourth SPL start for Hearts who spanked Partick Thistle 3-0.

In France, Elderson Echiejile started from the substitutes’ bench in Monaco’s clash away to Toulouse. He has made one appearance this term in the UEFA Champions League.

In Russia, Lukman Haruna missed Anzhi Makhachkala’s home fixture against Ural due to suspension. Haruna has played four games and scored once.
