Nigeria striker, Shola Ameobi opened the scoring in Gaziantep BB’s 1-1 draw with Adanaspor in the Turkish PTT 1. Lig on Friday.
The former Newcastle United star gave the club a boost as he made his official debut for them.
The game got off to a bright start with clear chances at either end, but neither Gaziantep nor Adanaspor could capitalise on the chances that came their way.
It took 36 minutes for Ameobi to score the first goal of the match and his first league goal from the penalty spot.
The hosts had led through Ameobi’s first goal of the season before half-time.
They were worthy of their lead and looked set to snatch victory against the visitors, having drawn their first two matches of the season.
Adanaspor were in some disarray as Gaziantep dominated possession, the lead wasn’t really assured.
The away side worked desperately to force their way back into the game and got their reward late in the match.
They rallied to equalize through Queiroz Bezerra Tiago in the 82nd minute.
As at Press Time, Gaziantep are 11th on the league table after three rounds of matches.
