Former Super Eagles striker Shola Ameobi was in action for his League Two (English fourth division) side Notts County whose chance of securing promotion to League One was ended following their 4-1 home loss to Coventry City in the second leg of the promotion play-off semi-finals on Friday.
Notts County, coached by former Bolton Wanderers star Kevin Nolan, were defeated 5-2 on aggregate by Coventry despite holding them to a 1-1 draw in the first leg on May 12.
Ameobi, who featured for the Super Eagles at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, was introduced in the 78th minute of the second leg.
The final will now be contested between Exeter and Coventry on May 28 at Wembley Stadium.
The winner between Exeter and Coventry will gain promotion to League One (English third-tier).
The play-off was contested by teams that finished from fourth to seventh positions in League Two.
