American-Nigerian Lindley Set For Worlds Debut

By Dare Esan In Beijing:

One of the many Americans the Athletic Federation of Nigeria recruited to get quick results, Lindsay Lindley, will make her IAAF worlds debut in the green and white colours of Nigeria on Thursday.

Lindley, whose first appearance in Nigeria’s colours was at the 2014 African Championships in Athletics in Marakech, Morocco without competing in the national trials, has been drawn in lane three in heat five of the 100m hurdles where she should strive to be among the first four automatic qualifiers for the semi-final or be among the four fastest losers. reports that Lindley holds a personal season’s best of 12.97 seconds coming to the championships and she is the fourth Nigerian sprint-hurdler to break the 13 seconds barrier after Glory Alozie who later switched allegiance to Spain and the retired duo of Angela Atiede (now Angela Adekoya) and USA-based woman from Oyo town in Oyo state, Toyin Augustus.
