Aminu Makes 24th NBA Start In  Blazers’s Defeat

 

D'Tigers forward, Al-Farouq Aminu failed to inspire the Portland Trail Blazers in the early hours of Wednesday as they suffered a second straight defeat away to the Utah Jazz in the NBA, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Aminu who was handed a rare start in the encounter, his 24th (58th of the season) posted 11 points, four rebounds, two steals and one assist.

He was the third highest scorer for his side and was on for 31 minutes as the Trail Blazers suffered their 30 defeat of the season.

The defeat now sees Portland Trail Blazers hold a half-game lead over the Denver Nuggets who defeated the New Orleans Pelicans 134-131 for the last Western Conference playoff spot with four games remaining.

The Portland Trail Blazers host Karl-Anthony Towns and the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday after losing to them Monday in Minnesota.

Meanwhile, Al-Farouq Aminu’s coach Terry Stotts and teammate Damian Lillard were both named NBA Western Conference Coach and player of the Month for March, the NBA league announced today.

This is the fourth time Stotts has received Coach of the Month honour, the most by a Trail Blazers head coach. He previously won the award in November 2013, December 2014 and February 2016.

Currently in his fifth season at the helm, Stotts led Portland to an NBA-best 13 wins and three defeats in the month of March.
