–Eaglets coach denies bribery allegation
Golden Eaglets coach Emmanuel Amuneke decided to answer the accusations of not being objective during selection process. Former Super Eagles star was upset and announced that he was never part of any corruption or involved in bribe exchange.
Amuneke was given the job as Golden Eaglets coach this year after serving earlier as an assistant to previous coach Manu Garba, who moved to train Flying Eagles, why Amuneke was supposed to build new team.
Unfortunately there were some accusations during the process as not everything seemed clear. Former Barcelona player conducted open screenings, but some claimed that he was choosing players not on basis of their skills, but was forcing them to pay bribes. Amuneke dismissed such rumours and stated that he was always clear as a player and so he is as a coach.
”It is easy for people to accuse me of favouritism but I’m guided by my conscience and the fear of God in picking players. I didn’t bribe my way throughout my career as a footballer and why for heaven’s sake would I be asking these young players to pay before they can be considered,” said Amuneke.
He also assured that he even sent off some players that were close to him, because they didn’t represent the proper level, but for some people it will never be enough. Yet his critics will still be sceptical about possibility of proper evaluation of thousands players during open screenings.
