By Johnny Edward:

Nigeria U-23s defender Stanley Amuzie will undergo an arthroscopic surgery this week after he suffered a knee ligament injury.

Amuzie is back in Italy with Sampdoria, but his contract with the Italian club could be cancelled as a result of the injury as his registration is yet to be completed, his agent Marshal Mbre revealed to
“He will be out for four to six months and that has ruled him out of the African U-23 Championship which kicks off in November 2015,” Mbre added to

“The news is devastating for me and for the player because his career has been set back by this injury which will cost about 25,000 to 30,000 euros to treat.”

Meanwhile, U-23 Eagles coach, Samson Siasia has sympathized with Amuzie who has been was one of the standout performers for the team.

Siasia who is currently in France has promised to ensure that the medical bills incurred will be offset by the Nigerian Football Federation as he was on duty with the national team when he copped the injury.
