Super Eagles defender, Stanley Amuzie, has explained reasons why he was replaced at halftime in the Super Eagles 1-0 loss to Egypt in Alexandria, in the the second of their two-legged encounters, Completesportsnigeria.com.
Amuzie who was preferred to Elderson Echiejile for the game took to his Facebook wall to reveal that he sustained an ankle injury and had to make way at the start of the second half.
The Sampdoria loanee also apologized to Nigerian fans for the team's ouster from next year's Africa Cup Of Nations in Gabon. He also added that he was looking forward to the 2018 World Cup qualifiers which will kick off later in the year.
"I thank you all for the support and prayers even though we didn't qualify, we are sorry and looking up to a bigger one ahead," Amuzie wrote on his Facebook wall.
"I was substituted because I had little knock on my ankle, so sorry for all and promise to get it right again."
The national U-23 defender has made two appearances for the senior national team after making five with the olympic team.
