By Johnny Edward:
Primeiro Agosto of Angola have placed a $1 million price tag on their Nigerian midfielder Ibukun Akinfenwa to ward off interess from tops clubs in Portugal, Completesportsnigeria.com has been informed by the player.
Portuguese side SC Braga have not ended their interest in Akinfenwa as they and some other unnamed Russian teams are planning to make another bid for the midfielder who recently signed a two-year deal at the Primeiro.
Akinfenwa whose side missed out on the Angola Girabola League title due to the head-to-head rule to Clube Recreativo Desportivo Do Libolo has also set his sights on emulating Emem Eduok who starred for the Super Eagles despite playing in an African league.
"I recently signed a two-year deal with my team despite the few offers I have from Portugal," he told Completesportsnigeria.com.
"But I guess the price tag scares them away. The most important thing for me now is to play for my country.
“I’m thinking about it [a call-up], although I’ve not earned it yet,”
“It’s not so close that I have to worry about it.
"For me, the best thing is to improve to a certain level and hope the coach give me a chance just like Emem Eduok got his."
