Nigerian striker Victor Anichebe bagged a brace for Sunderland who secured their second Premier League win of the season following their 3-0 home win against Hull City.

It was Anichebe' s third league goal in two games after scoring in Sunderland's 2-1 away win against Bournemouth before the international break.

Jermaine Defoe gave Sunderland the lead on 34 minutes before Anichebe made it 2-0 with a 64th minute strike.

And in the 84th minute, the Nigerian scored his second and Sunderland's third to secure the comfortable win.

The win lifted Sunderland off the bottom to 19th in the league table.

At Selhurst Park Yaya Toure marked his return to the Manchester City team with a brace as his goals helped the Citizens to a 2-1 win.

Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho was an unused substitute in the game.

Toure opened the scoring for City in the 39th minute but Connor Wickham equalised for Palace .

Toure scored again in the 83rd minute to give City the win.

City moved second on the log on 27 points.

At Vicarage Road Watford returned to winning ways following their slim 2-1 win against champions Leicester City.

Super Eagles assistant captain Ahmed Musa was introduced for Marc Albrighton on 80th minute while Odion Ighalo was left on the bench throughout the encounter.

Watford raced to a 1-0 lead in the first minute through Etienne Capoue.

They went 2-0 up following a goal by Roberto Pereyra in the 12th minute.

Leicester halved the deficit through Riyad Mahrez on 15 minutes from the penalty spot after Jamie Vardy was fouled inside the box.

At St. Mary's, Liverpool couldn't break down a resolute Southampton side as they were forced to a 0-0 draw.

Liverpool's best chances fell to Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino but the duo failed to score.

Southampton's best chance went to Charlie Austin but his header off a cross narrowly missed the target.

Liverpool still stay top in the league table but are on same point as City.
