Anichebe Stars As Sunderland See Off Musa’s Leicester



Nigerian striker Victor Anichebe made his sixth English Premier League start for Sunderland who recorded their third win of the season with a 2-1 win over reigning champions Leicester City who paraded Super Eagles star Ahmed Musa for 18 minutes, reports

The win was the second at home for the Black Cats and their third in four games, as they moved up to 18th on the log following Swansea City' 5-0 loss away to Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.

While for Leicester City it was their seventh defeat of the campaign and they are just two points above the relegation zone.

An own goal from Robert Huth gave the hosts the lead in the 64th minute when he deflected in Jan Kirchoff's effort past Ron-Robert Zieler. 

Jermain Defoe clinched all three points with his 19 goal of 2016 – as champions Leicester slumped again.

Substitute Shinji Okazaki got one back from Demarai Gray's cross in the 80th minute.

For Musa who came on for Riyad Mahrez in the 72nd minute he extended his goal drought to four games. He has scored two goals this season against Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur in 11 EPL games.
