West Brom forward Victor Anichebe is in contention to return from a groin injury in time to be on the substitutes’ bench for the meeting with the Saints on Saturday, according to expressandstar.com.
Anichebe has not featured in West Brom’s matches since limping out of the 2-2 draw at Burnley on February 8. Berahino and Ideye have since formed an impressive pairing in the Baggies’ attack.
But both left Saturday’s goalless draw at Sunderland battered and bruised and, while they are expected to start against the Saints, head coach Tony Pulis is keen for Anichebe to be available, if needed.
The trio are Albion’s only senior strikers, after the deadline-day move to sign Carlton Cole from West Ham fell through.
The Baggies are continuing to scour the market for out-of-contract forwards who could sign in an emergency, but Pulis admitted last week that he has yet to find a suitable candidate.
