Argentina midfielder Enzo Perez insists he is ready to take the place of Manuel Lanzini in the country’s squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
West Ham midfielder Lanzini ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament on his right knee during the Albiceleste’s training session on Friday which ruled him out of the World Cup.
Perez, 32, who made his Argentina debut in 2009, was initially in the Albiceleste’s 35-man provisional squad released by coach Jorge Sampaoli for the mundial before he was dropped.
The River Plate star was confirmed as Lanzini’s replacement on Saturday morning.
“I have to enjoy it, I know i have to work hard because the guys have been ahead of me for a long time but I will give my best,” Perez told Tyc Sports.
“This week I started training again, because I follow the plan of River Plate coach who insisted that I must do some works with pre-season.
“I do not know in what position he will use me, but he knows me very well, that is why he has called me and knows where I can perform.”
Argentina have faced a mini crisis with goalkeeper Sergio Romero also knocked out while midfielder Ever Banega and striker Sergio Aguero are on a race to be fit for the competition.Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
