Arsenal have handed professional deals to two of the club’s most promising youngsters, Bukayo Saka and Arthur Okonkwo.
Both Saka and Okonkwo have starred for the club’s Under-18 side and have this term broken into the Under-23s.
Okonkwo, a 6ft 5in goalkeeper, is an England Under-18 international who has already trained with the first team at the club’s London Colney base.
Saka, who only turned 17 last week, only signed scholarship terms in the summer but the club have moved swiftly to to tie him down after making a considerable impresssion.
Last week both helped England’s Under-18s win this year’s Limoges Tournament, before being part of the Arsenal Under-23 squad that defeated Coventry City in the Checkatrade Trophy; Saka came off the bench for Freddie Ljungberg’s side in that clash.
“Bukayo and Arthur are talented players, who have both excelled through our Hale End Academy, Arsenal Academy manager, Per Mertesacker told the club’s official website.
“We are delighted that they have signed their first professional contracts with us and we look forward to supporting them further through their development.”
