Arsenal May Release Akpom, Others; Seek To Reduce Wage Bills

Arsenal are considering releasing some of their players, including Nigerian-born England youth international Chuba Akpom this summer as the north London side plan to cut their wage bills in the wake of the Premier League's new cost control measures that are coming into force this summer, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

The Independent.co.uk on Friday reported that players like Akpom, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, Olivier Giroud, Lucas Perez, Calum Chambers, Wojciech Szczesny, Kieran Gibbs and Carl Jenkinson could all exit the club who failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League for the first time since Arsene Wenger became manager of the club.

Akpom who is being considered by the Nigeria Football Federation and Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr, to represent Nigeria at the senior level has been loaned out to clubs like Hull City, Brighton, Brentford, Coventry City and Nottingham Forest.

Akpom's contract with the Gunners ends in the summer of 2019.
