Arsenal Win Nwakali Race, Family Confirms

By Sab Osuji:

English Premier League side, Arsenal, have finally won the race for the signing of Nigeria youngster, Kelechi Nwakali, Completesportsnigeria.com can report.

Nwakali led the Nigeria U17s to success at the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup in Chile last November and emerged as the tournament's Most Valuable Player, MVP.

His heroics sparked wide interest on the Nigerian starlet from top European clubs, including Manchester City, Udinese, Olympiacos, amongst others.

But after a long and careful scrutiny of the various offers and interests, Emirates Stadium has become the next career destination of the Diamond Academy and ASJ Academy prodigy.

"We, as a family, have accepted Arsenal's offer and interest for Kelechi Nwakali," confirms Allwell Nwakali, senior brother and guardian of the Golden Eaglets World Cup winning captain to Completesportsnigeria.com.

"There were offers from clubs like Udinese, Olympiacos and even Manchester City, but we have settled for Arsenal.

"They had a better offer, not in terms of money but in areas like the development of the player's career which is very important.

"So, after carefully studying all the various documents from the various clubs' representatives or agents, we, as a family, deliberated on them and of course with the consent of the player himself because he's the principal actor here, decided to go with Arsenal because we believe his career will get a positive push there," the senior Nwakali explained.

He further told Completesportsnigeria.com that Nwakali will soon travel to England to finalise things with Arsene Wenger's side.

"At the moment, we're waiting for the visa to come out.

"We've made the required application for the travel document (visa). Once that is available he will travel to England," Allwell Nwakali affirmed to Completesportsnigeria.com.

He revealed that the deal would have long been sealed but for the need to iron out few patches with the initial agent handling the assignment.

"The initial agent (name withheld) we gave the right was slow and not doing enough, so we had to mandate another agent (name also withheld).

"The first agent felt bad so we had to make sure we resolved everything," he explained.
