Arsenal youngsters Chuba Akpom and Semi Ajayi have expressed interest to feature in Nigeria’s AFCON warm-ups against Cote d’Ivoire and Mali in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, next month.
Highly–rated duo Ajayi and Akpom could now be called up by coach Daniel Amokachi for the trip, alongside Steven Ukoh, who has been cleared by world football governing body to play for Nigeria after he has represented Switzerland at various age-grade levels.
This is according to an official statement from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) signed by communications assistant director Ademola Olajire.
Ajayi, who has been on the wings of the Arsenal main squad, has already represented Nigeria at U20 level having featured at last year’s Toulon Festival in France.
He is a ball playing central defender.
Nigeria play Cup of Nations-bound Cote d’Ivoire on January 9, before facing Mali, also heading to Equatorial Guinea, on January 13.
