Arter Calls On Cardiff To Kick On

Harry Arter wants Cardiff to kick on after claiming their first point and has defended their playing style. The midfielder made his Cardiff debut in Saturday’s goalless draw at home to Newcastle after agreeing a deadline day loan move from Bournemouth.

Cardiff, who lost their opening day clash to Bournemouth, struggled to create chances even after Newcastle were reduced to 10 men, while the Magpies missed a penalty in the final seconds.

Many have already been critical of Cardiff’s “negative” approach but Arter insists there is nothing wrong with the way they go about their business.

Arter said: “One thing I’ve learned in football is that there is no right and wrong way. That’s what makes football so unique and brilliant.

“Everyone wants to copy Man City for example, but you have to understand that they have the best players in the world to do that – there’s more ways to win a football game than just playing like that.

“Philosophy-wise, direct-wise, I don’t think it was anything silly (against Newcastle), I don’t think it was long ball all the time. We got some passes in when we needed to. The only think I felt we could have improved on today was the 10 V 11. The manager encouraged us to play, there was no negativity towards it.”
