Mountain of Fires and Miracles FC midfielder, Chukwuka Onuwa, believes that the art of goal scoring will improve his game as the Lagos club continues its amazing run in the Nigeria Professional Football League, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The creative midfielder has seven assists to his credit for the league leaders, but considers adding goals to his game as the next objective.
"Things have gone really well and I thank God for our good performances so far," the dimunitive midfielder whose skills have drawn comparisons to that of league legends, Austin Okocha (Enugu Rangers) and Etim Esin (Flash Flamingoes and Iwuanyanwu Nationale) toldCompletesportsnigeria.com.
"The league title is not won after 16 games, so we are still working hard, believing God that we shall win more matches.
"Personally, my desire is to start scoring goals. I have seven assists to my credit, but I want to do more.
"My primary job is to create chances for my attack-minded teammates, but players like Frank Lampard, Luka Modric and Andres Iniesta whom I admire are great because they add goals to their creative game."
MFM have 30 points from 16 games so far and boast of the NPFL top scorer, Stephen Odey with 13 goals.
On the game on Sunday against Nasarawa United, Onuwa is mindful of the threats of teams from Northern part of Nigeria.
"The toughest game I have had so far is the one against Plateau United. Then they were leading in the table. Teams up there (northern Nigeria) are really good. They have crazy fans who come to support their teams in large numbers," Onuwa told Completesportsnigeria.com Friday of the team's road trip to Lafia for Sunday's league game against Nasarawa United.
The former Heartland player added: "I expect a tough match but we are not scared to face anybody. I just pray for luck."
