Atletico Madrid striker Nikola Kalinic has suffered an injury to his ankle during training on Friday morning. Kalinic has not been selected by Croatia for their fixtures during the current international break after being sent home from the World Cup in Russia during the summer.
The forward may now face a spell on the sidelines, as the club have confirmed he has sustained an ankle injury during training.
The 30-year-old joined Los Colchoneros on a three-year deal from AC Milan during the summer transfer window and he has managed just one appearance so far, coming on as a substitute in Atleti’s 2-0 La Liga loss at Celta Vigo.
Atletico have described the injury as a “sprained joint” in a statement on their website and have not offered a timescale regarding his recovery, with Kalinic now a doubt for their next La Liga game against Eibar on September 15.
