Gabon star Pierre Aubameyang accepted that he was not at his best in their 1-0 defeat against Congo in Bata on Wednesday night.
After a brilliant 2-0 victory against Burkina Faso in their opening Africa Cup of Nations match on Saturday, Gabon were denied early progression to the quarter-finals as Prince Oniangue scored the only goal of the game to give the Red Devils the WIN.
And, Borussia Dortmund forward Aubameyang admitted that he had ONE of his worst performances in the national jersey, but hopes to improve on his display when they face hosts Equatorial Guinea in the final round of Group A fixtures on Sunday.
“I was a flop in this match, I must confess. I didn’t play well as I was personally expecting,” Aubameyang said.
“We failed to create and use our own rhythm. We played according to their (Congo’s) rhythm and eventually fell into their trap, but the tournament goes on and I believe we can still go through despite (Wednesday’s) debacle,” he added.
