Australia coach Alen Stajcic has predicted a tough encounter between his team and the Super Falcons in their Women’s World Cup group clash on Fridah night.
The Matildas lost 3-1 to the United States in their first game, while the Falcons held Sweden to a 3-3 draw.
Speaking ahead of the match, which will take place inside the Winnipeg Stadium, Stajcic hailed the coach Edwin Okon-led side for their performance against Sweden.
He told sportsfan.com.au: “We know we’ve got a tough game.
“Nigeria showed they’re a quality opponent and they were probably unlucky not to win that game against Sweden the other day.
“We all knew it was the group of death and I think it’s an even better and tougher group than what we thought before hand.”
Meanwhile, forward Kyah Simon said her teammates were determined to convert their solid first-half form against the USA to goals this time.
“Coming off a loss you obviously want to do better in the next game so the team is looking good,” Simon said.
“We’re focused on our next opponents Nigeria and are going to go out and put in a performance like we did in the first half against the USA.”Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
