The qualifiers for the 9th African Women’s Championship, Namibia 2014, reach the final lap this weekend, with first leg of the second round and six-time Champions, Nigeria, facing the She Wasps of Rwanda today at the Stade Regional de Nyamirambo in Kigali.

Super Falcons coach, Edwin Okon is upbeat his charges will scale over their opponents after an impressive display by his team against Cameroun in a friendly last week, which his side  won 1-0.

He declared’’We are going for a win against the Rwandans in their backyard and I’m optimistic we can achieve that.”

“Though it is easy to say Rwanda are not a big name in women’s football but neverthless we have prepared very well for the game” insists Coach Okon.

“With the kind of preparations we have had and the calibre of players we have in the team, I’m confident we will come out victorious.

The return leg will take place on June 6, with seven teams emerging  from the qualifiers to join hosts Namibia for the final tournament from 11-24 October, also a qualifier for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada.
