–Promises to score goals in Lusaka
Gangling youth international Taiwo Awoniyi who was drafted from the Flying Eagles is confident that the Dream Team VI will beat Zambia in Lusaka in their All Africa Games final qualifier on Saturday.
Awoniyi told Complete Sports that the Zambian Under-23 team will face a completely different Dream Team when they clash in the second leg noting that they were lucky to get a goalless draw in Abuja about three weeks ago but they won’t be this time.
Awoniyi who won the Under-17 world cup with the Golden Eaglets in UAE said the Zambians will not stay back to defend in Lusaka like they did in Abuja, and this will spur Dream Team to open them and score goals.
“We shall try and score goals there and shut them out to qualify for the AAG. We shall take our chances and hope that don’t score us.
“It is going to be tough but I am sure we can get a good result in Zambia and qualify”, he stated.
On how he was able to settle down so quickly and blending with the others, the 19 year old posited that it was just a matter of doing it the way the coach wants him to play adding that his team mates have also helped him.
Meanwhile Awoniyi scored twice in the team’s 3-0 win against Abuja Football College in a test game.
