Nigerian football rave of the moment, Taiwo Awoniyi says he is not in a hurry to play for the senior national team but will not reject a chance to represent his country at that level.
Awoniyi whose two goals against Zambia ensured that Nigeria qualified for the 11th All Africa Games in Congo told Complete Sports in Abuja yesterday that he would continue to work hard and let God take control of his future for him.
“My recent successes with the national under-20 and the Dream Team is by the grace of God. I am happy that my goals helped Nigeria to qualify for All Africa Games. It was a collective effort and I must say that I am surprised at the way I settled into the Dream Team seamlessly.
“We played to the coaches directive and took our chances when it came. The Zambians were good but we played better and got the result we needed to qualify,” the FIFA Under-17 world cup winner stated.
On his club career, Awoniyi said he would play club football at God’s own time adding he would make his move at the appropriate time. He said he would definitely play club football soon.
He said he his immediate target now is the Under-20 world cup after which he would take the next step.
