—Flying Eagles Trio Plus Muhammed Report To U-23s Camp
Nigeria U-23s coach Samson Siasia will not have to drop any of the four Flying Eagles players from his squad after they beat his Friday deadline to report to camp.
Completesportsnigeria.com reports that Siasia angrily threatened to drop Taiwo Awoniyi, Saviour Godwin, Dele Alampasu and Musa Mohammed for not reporting to camp last Monday and gave them a new Friday deadline. The players had been given extra days off following their participation at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand.
However, the four have arrived in camp, beating the Friday deadline given by the coach, the Nigeria Football Federation announced in a press release on Friday.
First to hit camp was winger Saviour who arrived at the Serob Legacy Hotel at about 8pm on Thursday as his teammates were about taking their dinner.
On Friday, striker Awoniyi who arrived at about 10.15am, and not long after the Flying Eagles captain defender Mohammed reached the camp, followed shirtly after by goalkeeper Alampasu.
With the arrival of the four players, the camp is now in full swing as preparation for the first leg U-23 African Championship qualifier against Congo continues.
Siasia has meanwhile released players to play for their clubs in this weekend’s Glo Premier League, expecting them to return to camp on Monday.
