–Volyn FC winger Michael Babatunde arrives Eagles camp
Volyn FC winger Michael Babatunde arrived in the Super Eagles yesterday ahead of the two legged AFCON qualifiers against Sudan and promised to give his best in the crucial games, he has informed Complete Sports.
The Nigeria international told Complete Sports he was left out of the squad that drew 2-2 at home to Vorskla due to some flight logistics.
“The crisis in Ukraine has limited the number of flights in and out of Ukraine and that was why I was allowed to leave for the national team on Friday,” he told Complete Sports shortly on arrival in Lagos on Saturday.
He also revealed that he has been instructed to arrive in Kiev by his club unfailinglyon October 16th ahead of Volyn’s clash against Shakhtar Donetsk in Kiev.
“For my prompt release, I have been told to return to Kiev on October 16th which means I must leave immediately after the game on the 15th from Abuja and I have already booked a seat,” says the Super Eagles star.
Babatunde who limped off injured in his side’s Ukrainian Cup game against Dnipro after 23 minutes also allayed fears of him carrying a knock.
“I had to go off as a precautionary measure. I’m ok,” he said.
So far this season, Babatunde has made two appearances for Volyn against Dynamo Kiev and Metalurh Zaporizhya.
Babatunde was a shock inclusion in Nigeria’s World Cup squad, but he justified his inclusion it with a strong game against Bosnia and Argentina.
