World Cup ace Babatunde Michael has said it was the right decision by Nigeria to axe him for two AFCON qualifiers next month.

Volyn of Ukraine forward Babatunde was not selected on a 23-man squad announced for AFCON 2015 qualifiers against Congo and South Africa next month.


Several other World Cup stars like Victor Moses and, Osaze Odemwingie were also overlooked for these matches.

“But I will be looking forward to be back in the subsequent matches for Nigeria.”

Babatunde has returned to fitness following a wrist injury he suffered while in action for Nigeria at the World Cup in Brazil.

However, he has yet to feature for his club since the Eagles 3-2 loss to Argentina in a group game in June.
