–Reveals meeting with Lagos State Governor
Nigeria international, Michael Babatunde yesterday departed Nigeria for Qatar where he will hold contract talks with an unnamed club, Complete Sports can exclusively report today.
The 21-year old midfielder who made two appearances for the Super Eagles at the World Cup in Brazil told Complete Sports that he was going to discuss the offers he has received from the Gulf region.
“Nothing has been concluded yet but I’m going to discuss with some teams there and from Qatar, I will go to Europe for further discussions in Germany and France”, he told Complete Sports shortly before he departed Tuesday afternoon.
Meanwhile, Complete Sports can report that Babatunde who paid a special visit to the Lagos
State Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola on Monday has been advised by the politician to remain focused and put his career before money.
“It was a rare visit and I’m happy the Governor received me in a fatherly manner,” says the Super Eagles star.
“He advised me not to join the ‘big teams’ that can’t guarantee me football action every week and as a young player coming up, I need to play regularly to realize my potentials. He also told me that I should be focused in my career,” he said.

This is good 4 nigeria because Babatinde is a dedicated footballer. He performed beyond expectation during the recently concluded world cup. The advise given by the gov is good but Quatar is not a footballing nation. I would rather prefer he goes to Europe to ply his trade
