Bafana  Defender Mkhize In Fitness Scare Ahead Super Eagles Clash

Bafana Bafana of South Africa defender, Thami Mkhize, is battling to be fit for Saturday’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture against the Super Eagles of Nigeria after failing to take part in full training yesterday, reports

The Cape Town City defender and Thulani Serero trained separately from their Bafana teammates at the Steyn City on Monday, during the team’s first training session ahead of the game.

According to a report in the, no reason was given as to why Mkhize was not part of the main squad session.

Serero who is nursing an ankle injury is expected to train fully with the rest of the squad today (Tuesday).

Super Sport United goalkeeper, Ronwen Williams is also battling to be fit for the game following a slight knee injury.

Ronwen, who didn’t take part in Monday’s session is expected to join his colleagues in training on Wednesday.

Baxter has had to re-arrange his Bafana squad due to injuries to several of his key players ahead of the crucial encounter billed for the FNB Stadium, Johannesburg.

Key players; Dean Furman, Bongani Zungu, Keagan Dolly, Sibusiso Vilakazi, Bradley Grobler and Kamohelo Mokotjo are all out of the game due to injuries.

Bafana are currently second in Group E, with eight points from four games, and need just three more points to guarentee their qualification to next year’s showpiece in Cameroon.

Nigeria are top of the standings – one point ahead, while Libya are on four points and Seychelles
