Nigeria defender, Leon Balogun, made his debut for Brighton & Hove Albion in their 1-1 with English Championship side, Charlton Athletic in Tuesday’s pre-season friendly game played at The Valley, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Brighton had earlier played out a 1-1 draw against Portsmouth Tuesday morning.
Balogun played for 64 minutes before he was replaced by Ben Barclay.
After a goalless first half that saw Brighton dominate possession, Pascal Gross gave Albion the lead three minutes after the restart.
Glen Murray met James Tilley’s brilliant cross with a bullet header – it was then saved by Charlton Athletic’s goalkeeper, Dillian Phillips before the German fired home the loose ball.
Balogun made a timely tackle to deny Nick Ajose a chance to score in the 52nd minute after Charlton had a chance on the edge of the area.
With just ten minutes remaining on the clock, the hosts drew level through Naby Sarr as the Charlton man found space inside the penalty area and fired into the bottom corner.
Next up for the Seagulls is another pre- season game against Birmingham City at St Andrews on Saturday.
