By James Agberebi: Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun, and his Mainz team-mates will play two pre-season friendly games in Italy as part of their preparation towards the 2016/2017 Bundesliga season.
They will first take on Servette FC who play in the second division in the Swiss league on Wednesday, 3 August, while their second game will come up the following day against Serie B side Novaro Calcio.
A statement in the club's official website reads: "FSV Mainz will play two friendlies during their week-long summer training camp in the Italian seaside town of Saint-Vincent in Aostatal (30th July until 6th August).
"Martin Schmidt’s team will face Swiss second division side Servette FC Genf on Wednesday, 3rd August before taking on Novaro Calcio from the Italian Serie B the next day (Thursday, 4th August).
"Both matches will kick off in Saint-Vincent’s Stadio Perucca, where the team will be completing their training sessions."
Mainz finished sixth in the 2015/2016 Bundesliga season.
