Bamba Believes In Cardiff Style

Cardiff’s Sol Bamba believes his side’s playing style is not an issue as they look to survive in the Premier League. Goalless draws against Newcastle and Huddersfield have given the Bluebirds two points from their opening five games and their shortcomings were exposed on Saturday when they were thrashed 4-1 by Chelsea.

Bamba opened the scoring at Stamford Bridge but Neil Warnock’s men were no match for the Blues.

Individual errors and an inability to shut up the shop also hampered them, as they continued to push forward despite being outclassed by, most notably, Eden Hazard.

The result has led to calls for Cardiff to be more defensive in their approach but the Ivorian feels it would be counter-productive, insisting the players believes in their tactics.

“People expect us to park the bus, if I can call it that. We didn’t. We tried to play good football and go forward and score a few goals,” Bamba told BBC Sport.

“That’s a positive thing to take from the last few games. On the other hand, I think we’ve got to do better at the back.

“If we play like that through the season, I think we’re going to win more games than lose.”
