Roma president Roma president James Pallotta has seen his Champions League ban reduced from three months to one.The American owner was handed a three-month ban after insulting match officials following their semi-final loss to Liverpool, having called the officiating “a joke”following an appeal.

The Giallorossi appealed and it has been partially upheld by UEFA, but they were also fined 19,000 euros for setting off fireworks, insufficient organisation and blocked stairways, and that decision has been upheld by UEFA.

“The appeal lodged by AS Roma is partially upheld,” a statement from the governing body explains.

“Consequently, the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body’s decision of 19 July 2018 is amended as follows: to suspend the AS Roma official James Pallotta for one (1) month from carrying out his function during UEFA competition matches in which he would otherwise participate, starting from AS Roma’s first UEFA competition match of the 2018/2019 season.

“In particular, the official may not be in the technical area or communicate directly or indirectly with the team’s players and/or technical staff during the match and may not enter the dressing room or tunnel before or during the match.”
