Barcelona may be resigned to the fact that they are losing Neymar Jr to French giants Paris Saint-Germain in a €222m mega deal but the Catalan club's fans are not letting go without venting their anger on the Brazilian want-away star.
The fans put up insulting Neymar posters all around town, with one screaming 'Wanted: traitor and mercenary,' under a picture of the former fans' favourite, MailSport is reporting.
This comes in the wake of a statement by the club on Wednesday that they accept the inevitability of Neymar's departure but will not be forced to negotiate his transfer the way PSG wanted.
PSG will be forced to pay his buy-out clause in full – a reported hefty €222m – and Barcelona are also determined to punish Neymar Sr – the player's agent – by making him wait until the conclusion of the deal before they determine what percentage of the commission due to him from a previous contract extension signed by Neymar in October 2016.
Barcelona will reportedly base this action on the fact that Neymar Sr is only entitled to a fraction of this payment because Neymar's renewal was for five years but he would have spent only one year of those five if the deal goes through.
