Batshuayi Not Planning Early Chelsea Return

Michy Batshuayi insists he is not planning on cutting his loan spell with Valencia short by returning to Chelsea in January. The Belgium international was deemed surplus to requirements by Chelsea at the start of the season and was sent on loan to secure regular first-team football.

The 25-year-old has certainly been playing regularly during his time at the Mestalla, but he has only scored once in 11 La Liga appearances for Los Che, who are also languishing in the bottom half of the standings.

However, Batshuayi reminded everyone of his credentials as he scored both goals in Belgium’s 2-0 victory over Iceland un the UEFA Nations League on Thursday.

The former Marseille star has now been linked with a return to Chelsea when the January transfer window opens, particularly as Maurizio Sarri’s current striking options, Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata, have struggled to score on a regular basis so far this season.

Batshuayi has dismissed talk he could cut his loan move short, however, and he instead plans to stick with Valencia for the rest of the season. “On my departure from Valencia, there are only rumours,” Batshuayi told reporters.

“I have no problem with the club and I understand the coach [Marcelino] very well. “We are in a bad phase, but we will continue working to overcome the slump.”
