Egypt stunned Cote d'Ivoire 4-2 in a Group A encounter on Thursday and claimed a semi-final spot, leaving the chances of the Ivorians hanging in the balance, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The win moves Egypt to six points while Cote d'Ivoire remain on four points.
In the first period Mohammed Abdelnaby put Egypt 1-0 up in the fifth minute, but two minute later Kablan Aka drew Cote d'Ivoire level.
The second period saw both sides getting at each other,looking to shoot into the lead but both failed to find the breakthrough.
But with two minutes left, Egypt took the lead, thanks to Elmoatazzbellah Samy to make it 2-1.
Cote d'Ivoire clawed their way back into the game, to 2-2, five minutes into the third period with Aka scoring. Egypt took the lead again through Ahmed Abouserei a minute later.
With four minutes left in the third period, Abouserei scored again to make it 4-2 in favour of Egypt.
