Worcester and Wales centre Ashley Beck has been dealt a significant injury blow after breaking his leg in the European Challenge Cup. Lining up in the Warriors’ game against Stade Francais on Saturday, Beck was forced off after just three minutes.
He looked to be on his way to scoring a try but collapsed to the ground awkwardly after being tackled from behind.
Worcester, who ended up winning the game 38-27, say Beck spent Saturday night in hospital in Paris before he was released and allowed to travel home with his team-mates on Sunday.
“It wasn’t great to see Ashley taken off on a stretcher so early on,” head coach Rory Duncan said.
The club Tweeted on Sunday: “We can confirm that Ashley suffered a fractured leg in last night’s win in Paris. He has travelled back with the team today.
“We wish Ashley all the best for a speedy recovery. Thank you all for your messages of concern and support.”
