Tony Bellew’s world title showdown with Oleksandr Usyk is close to being agreed, according to both fighters’ promoters. Ukrainian Usyk immediately called out Bellew after he won the World Boxing Super Series in July.
He won the first edition of the tournament and was also crowned the undisputed cruiserweight champion.
A number of experts class him as the pound-for-pound best but Bellew is ready to challenge him before retiring.
Bellew’s promoter Eddie Hearn admits talks could be concluded in two weeks, while Usyk’s representative Alexander Krassyuk told Sky Sports that a November 10 date is on the cards.
He told Sky Sports: “We are very close to finalising the deal and announcing the fight. Most likely it will take place on November 10 in the UK.”
