Edinburgh have been hit by the news Mark Bennett is facing a spell on the sidelines after suffering a suspected hamstring rupture. Bennett picked up the injury during the narrow loss against Ulster on Friday and head coach Richard Cockerill expects him to be on the sidelines for up to four months, ruling him out until the new year.
It is more bad luck for Bennett, who was forced to miss almost all of 2017 with a serious knee injury.
“It’s something quite significant, he is on crutches, and if it’s what we suspect, then it is a veryh serious injury,” said Cockerill. “If it is what we think it is, it will be months.
It is one of those things, thankfully nothing to do with his knees that have been a problem before.
“He got bent into a position past his flexibility in a clearout, nothing wrong with it, it was just purely bad luck.”
Edinburgh are however boosted by the news they have cover in the form of James Johnstone, Chris Dean and Juan Pablo Socino so should be able to cope with Bennett’s absence.Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
