Real Madrid striker,Karim Benzema believes Les Blues must dig deep and overcome Nigeria when both sides meet on Monday in a second round match of the on-going FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Benzema and France fired blanks on Wednesday night in their final group game against Ecuador but the draw was enough to ensure the French topped their group.
The Real Madrid striker express delight at the feat and has now set his sight on Monday’s game in Brassilia.
“We’ve qualified, so we should be happy, no? It was a tough match; all these matches are. In our previous outings, we had a lot of success in front of goal. Tonight, we were up against a side who were physically imposing; we had chances but their ‘keeper kept them in it. Now we need to rest up and recuperate so that we’re 100 per cent for the last 16. Nigeria? They’re a good side and it will be a tough match but we have to do all we can to win it.”
France coach, Didier Deschamps is also optimistic his side can overcome the very physical Nigeria side on Monday.
‘They (Super Eagles) are not there (in last 16) by accident; we’ve seen what they can do and we’ll do a full analysis. They have a lot going for them and have a very athletic bunch of players,”he said.
