Hapoel Be'er Sheva’s midfielder John Ogu has expressed his joy at winning prestigious Best Foreign Player Award in the Israeli League,Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The Super Eagles star clinched the award after captains of clubs in the Ligat Al League voted him following his exploits in Israel.
Ogu took to Twitter to express his joy shortly after he was announced and said he thanks God for making it possible for him.
Ogu wrote on his Twitter handle:"Voted as the Best Foreign Player in Israeli League by the captains of each team. I thank GOD for everything."
The Nigerian midfielder chalked up 62.4% of the votes in the poll to beat his teammate and compatriot Anthony Nwakaeme, who came second with 21.6% in the poll.
The Nigeria international who has scored four goals in 35 games this season could make history with Hapoel Be'er Sheva by winning the Ligat Al for the first time in 40 years with a win on Saturday, if they beat Bnei Sakhnin in the final day of the season.
Hapoel Be'er Sheva currently on 80 points lead the three-time defending champions Maccabi Tel Aviv with two points.
