Former El Kanemi coach Bitrus Bawerang has thumbed up the Nigeria Football Federation for giving Stephen Keshi another shot at the Super Eagles coaching job and opines that the move will guarantee continuity in the Nigerian men’s senior national team, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Keshi was handed a two-year contract in what will be his third time as the coach of the Eagles, a decision which generated mixed reactions from Nigerian football faithful.
Bewarang however appeals to Nigerians who felt disappointed at the recall of Keshi to give the former Eagles captain another chance to right his wrongs after Nigeria floundered in their quest to qualify for the 2015 African Cup of Nations.
“I align with NFF’s decision to bring back Stephen Keshi. This will ensure that the complex job of team building will continue from where Keshi left off, ” Bewarang tells Completesportsnigeria.com.
“Continuity is important to the success of the team. A new coach will have to start afresh. We do not have much time before the 2017 Nations Cup qualifiers start. Keshi should just learn from his past mistakes,” Bewarang concludes.
The Eagles will begin qualifying matches for the 2017 AFCON in June 2015.
