Former Kaduna United coach Bitrus Bawerang has tipped the Flying Eagles to reach the semi-finals of the CAF U20 Youth Championship in Senegal.Bewarang however urges the Flying Eagles coach, Manu Garba, to work on the team coordination as they get set to play their second game of the AYC against Congo on Wednesday.
“The performance of the Flying Eagles is a glimpse of hope for the game in Nigeria. Of course, the team can win the AYC in Senegal. But firstly, they have to make it out of the group. That takes them to the semi-finals of the competition which we expect them to achieve,” Bewarang tells Completesportsnigeria.
“There have been talks about which Nigerian team can replicate the qualities we saw in our senior national team some years back, and we can all see that in the Flying Eagles of today.
“Manu Garba should continue to improve the team as a whole. It’s now time to improve understanding (blending) and team play of the players. They already have the talent, that is not in doubt,” Bewarang opines.
On the return of injured players like Kelechi Iheanacho and Musa Yahaya and also the duo of Chidiebere Nwakali and Isaac Success (not released by their clubs) who have missed the competition in Senegal, Bewarang believes it will not be a difficult task to reintegrate into the team.
