Five minutes later Ruben Loftus-Cheek hit a shot from the edge of the box which Kasper Schmeichel Parried away.

Palace eventually broke the deadlock on 19 minutes through Benteke who headed in Andros Townsend’s cross.

In the 33rd minute Leicester had a chance of their own but Jamie Vardy could not finish off Demarai Gray’s cross as Palace keeper Julian Speroni comfortably gathered his goal bound flick.

Palace got on the score sheet again this time through Zaha who smashed his effort past Schmeichel after he was played in on goal.

Four minutes into the second half, Riyad Mahrez almost scored for Leicester only to see Speroni get down superbly and palmed his low shot from nestling into the bottom right corner.

On 53 minutes, it was Ndidi’s turn to go close for Leicester but his shot flashed across Palace’s goal.

Things went from bad to worse for Leicester as Ndidi was sent off in the 61st minute after receiving his second yellow card for a dive.

In the 78th minute Benteke should have extended Palace lead but was denied from close range by Schmeichel.

Benteke went close again on 83 minutes for Palace only to see his shot off Zaha’s cutback come off a Leicester player for a corner.
