Thomas Bjorn is set for a busy week both on and off the course as he prepares to compete on home soil in the Made in Denmark.
The European Ryder Cup captain is set to finalise his team for the biennial event on September 5, but before then he will be competing in this week’s European Tour event that will have a familiar feel to it as it is taking place near to where he grew up.
Bjorn admits childhood memories will come flooding back when he tees off at Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort for his opening round on Thursday.
“It’s a great course,” he told the European Tour website. “I have said it all my life that it is a great design, a great place to be and a great place to play.
“There are so many memories for me coming back to the golf course and town where I grew up. This is my childhood. When there was no snow I got dropped off here at 8am on a Saturday and picked up at 6pm Sunday. I was here every day after school.”
The 47-year-old insists he is not looking at the event through rose-tinted spectacles as other players on the tour have also expressed how much they enjoy it.
“This tournament has turned into a great event and the best indicator of that comes when you talk to the players,” he added. “They love the event, they enjoy coming here and playing in front of the crowds and having a bit of fun with it.”
Bjorn will play his opening two rounds of the Made in Denmark alongside Martin Kaymer and Eddie Pepperell, who still has an outside chance of earning an automatic spot on the European Ryder Cup team.Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
