English Championship club Blackburn Rovers are still awaiting approval from relevant authorities as to whether their attempt to bring in Celtic’s Nigerian defender Efe Ambrose on loan has been successful, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The centre-back who was a member of the Super Eagles squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations title in South Africa in 2013 has struggled to pin down a regular spot under Brendan Rodgers this season.
The former Kaduna United player has made just two appearances for Celtic this season, both in Champions League qualifiers in July.
Rovers, who already have Ambrose’s former Celticteam-mates Anthony Stokes and Charlie Mulgrew on their books, were frustrated in their quest to get the deal for the Beijing Olympic Games silver medalist ratified before the Tuesday night deadline.
