Blatter Wins FIFA Election

Blatter Wins FIFA Election

Sepp Blatter won a fifth term as FIFA President on Friday after his only opponent in the Presidential election, Prince Ali Bin Al-Hussein, withdrew from a second round of voting.
The incumbent won the first round of voting in Zurich, Switzerland 133 to 73 votes, but he fell short of the 140 votes required for an outright victory.
The voting was supposed to go into a second round where simple majority would have been enough to win, but Prince Ali withdrew, leaving Blatter as the winner.
Blatter was first elected as the President of FIFA in 1998, succeeding Brazilian Joao Havelange.
Nigeria Football Federation voted for Blatter despite the mounting allegations of corruption and arrests of several high-ranking loyalists of the Swiss administrator.
NFF President Amaju Pinnick had told CNN on Thursday that he would vote for Blatter, who retains strong support in Africa

Blatter not the messier FIFA wants. The old man is a crafty suplanter who has nothing useful to offer to the game of football any more. After 16 years at Zurich is even a sign of self-fishness for such dying old man to quit.

Failing to honour his own statement that he shall retire at the end of his last tune is enough indication that he is not a credible man.
